When I moved to Safety Harbor from the Pacific Northwest in 2008, I knew I'd never want to leave. Besides the shimmering waters of Tampa Bay, the native wildlife, the majestic Grand oaks and the friendly people, there was an energy in my new city---a kind of creative invitation that I hadn't experienced in years. I did miss one part of my old life, though. I missed my former writers group. If only I had other writers I could connect with , I thought.

So, I started Safety Harbor Writers and Poets. We were a small group back then. If I remember correctly, there were only 4 people who attended our first meeting at a small downtown cafe. Now, Safety Harbor is known for  its writers groups, classes, writing contests, open mic nights, NaNoWriMo and other events geared toward the written word.   If you've been looking for a way to connect with others who share your dreams, then you've found your people!
